FanDuel Inks Partnership with The Cordish Companies

Last Thursday, The Cordish Companies and FanDuel group announced that they have entered into a strategic partnership. This officially makes FanDuel the official betting partner of two of The Cordish Companies’ casino facilities in Pennsylvania. As such, customers of the facilities will be treated to FanDuel’s daily fantasy sports and sports betting offerings not just in the Keystone State but at all of Cordish’s Live! Casino & Hotel and Entertainment Districts properties in the United States.

As it stands, the Live! Casino properties boast of more than 55 million visitors annually which makes them one of the most popular gambling and hospitality destinations in the country. FanDuel which already has access to a market consisting of up to 8.5 million customers is set to gain significantly since it will now have access to an even bigger customer base.

“This partnership allows us to capitalize on the incredible success of sports betting to date and bring FanDuel’s top sports betting operations to Cordish destinations across the United States,” Matt King, the FanDuel Group chief executive said.

A number of companies have been working very hard to capitalize on the rapidly growing sports betting market in the United States. The FanDuel partnership with The Cordish Companies leverages the strength of both companies in order to propel them forward in the lucrative and very competitive space.

Pennsylvania is going to be the very first state where the partnership will go live. This will be at the Cordish’s Live Casino & Hotel Philadelphia and Live! Casino in Westmoreland County. After Pennsylvania, both companies intend to extend their footprints to other states including Washington D.C. and Maryland. In these states, they will need to obtain the necessary sports betting licenses which will be dependent on whether or not the states have legalized the activity.

Launch Slated for 2020

The Cordish Companies has already begun the construction of the two Pennsylvanian casino and hospitality properties. If everything goes according to plan, both of these properties will launch in 2020 – no specific dates or timelines have been given at this time. However, the company has shed some light on what customers can expect to see once the casinos are completed.

For instance, Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia will feature over 2,000 slot machines, at least 150 tables, the FanDuel sportsbook, a 200-room boutique hotel, parking facilities, and several food and beverage outlets. All that will be spread out over 1.5 million square feet.

Live! Casino’s Westmoreland County property, on the other hand, will have a FanDuel sportsbook, around 30 table games, 750 slot machines, live entertainment venues, and dining facilities. These will occupy 100,000 square feet.
